Pipeline Construction Begins on Romania’s Largest Black Sea Offshore Gas Project

Romania has begun a key phase of the Neptun Deep project in the Black Sea with the laying of an underwater gas pipeline that will connect the offshore field to the national gas transmission network. Estimated reserves are around 100 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which could turn Romania into the largest gas producer in the EU. The investment is approximately €4 billion and is considered a strategic project for Europe’s energy independence.
